Swyft Fiber Receives BEAD Funding

We are extremely proud to announce that the State of Louisiana has awarded Swyft Fiber, in conjunction with REV and T-Mobile, funding through the BEAD programs to continue expanding broadband access to more Louisiana residents.

In August, 2024, Governor Jeff Landry announced the second phase of broadband expansion in Louisiana. As a result, Swyft Fiber teamed with REV and T-Mobile and created the Louisiana Local Fiber Consortium (LLFC) to bid for the opportunity of providing internet connectivity to more areas in the state. The LLFC was selected through an impartial application process, winning  based on the qualifications needed to extend broadband access to rural and underserved communities.

Swyft Fiber and REV, both Louisiana-headquartered fiber broadband companies, plan to quickly hire staff for the expansion and will emphasize recruiting Louisiana residents. T-Mobile will provide support to the two companies by complementing the Louisiana network with 5G service, the fifth generation of mobile networking.

“We are deeply grateful for the investment as it is strongly aligned with our mission of providing high-speed internet to areas historically lacking investment in high-quality connectivity,” remarked Swyft Fiber cofounder and CEO Jason Hunt. “We thank Gov. Landry and the Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity for their support in extending fiber connectivity to Louisiana communities and continuing to invest in our Louisiana workforce.”
